Default Factory speaker setup

just curious--does anyone w/a SSE have factory speakers in the dash? I don't have them but I saw an ad on e-bay from an 88 SSE that had them--weird. Mine never had them because I had to run wires and splice to make them work.
Here'* the link for the pic.

no, the 88-91 SSE'* did not come with speakers in the dash. on the LE and SE w/o the performance sound system had them from the factory.

Thanks for responding. I put some decent speakers in there and the sound is great! They fill that empty void.

Why would you need the gain amp from that year only? Can't use one from a 90? Not your old one?
I think when next summer comes around I'm going to rip out the factory stuff and put in my own stuff. I tried putting in some aftermarket 6x9'* but I couldn't get them to sound unmuffled w/the factory stuff.

How could you wire in a gain amp to an aftermarket radio?
In my 89 I installed a cd radio from a 92--I wish I could get my steering wheel controls to work w/it tho :?

I'm not sure if it works w/the head unit--it'* hard to tell--I think it does tho because when I hit the button on and off it seems like the bass gets SLIGHTLY lounder.
I do have a gain button from a 92--somewhere in storage.
Think there'* a way to re-wire the back of the radio to get my controls to work w/it?

no its the way the signals are sent. you would have to get the complete steering wheel system from a 92+ and retro it in ur car. see when i hit the gain system on mine, i get alot of nonsense bass that sounds like crap. its just a bunch of loud humming that goes on and off...
