Engine Help 1990 SSE
I have had this 1990 SSE for 1 week, it ran very smooth, no problems at all.
today, it started acting up, and i have no idea how to fix it.
I went to the DMV, and it ran fine, when i got done, i went to start the car, and it took 2 tries to start. then it kept dieing, i was barley able to get it out of the parking lot. i noticed that the low fuel light was on, so i went to the gas station.
after i put gas in it, is stopped dieing on me, but i has a VERY rough idle, and it idles high. it feels like it will die any second.
what is wrong?
thanks

Coulda killed the fuel pump, and now it'* real weak. how much gas did you put in? I find whenever my car is below a 1/4 tank it looses performance, especially at WOT. Anything in the yellow hash is realllll crappy, and she totally dies flush at the white.
If you haven't already, put in 1/2 a tank... that'll eliminate any possibility of this being a low fuel problem.
If you do have 1/2 tank or more.. a FULL tank and a bottle of fuel injector cleaner may not be a bad option. When you ran pretty much out of gas, that may have sucked some crap up from the bottom of the tank, thus clogging the fuel filter or the fuel injectors.

Not sure whats wrong...
You may need to do a few checks... Check the Fuel pressure... Should be between 37-41 PSI.... If the fuel filter has not been replaced you may want to do so...
Usually when you buy a used car there are a series of things that you want to take care of to make sure the car is up to snuff...
At times these cars can be very touchy...
Has the Service Engine Soon light come on at all?

Ok, i did some poking around.. i saw this rupper tube sticking up with an open. i turned on the car, and i used my thump to plug the tub, the tube has great suction, and the tdle went back to normal with the tube plugged.
here is a picture of the engine, i have outlined where the rubber tube is comming from.. is it OK just to plug it up?
i cound not find whereit went to.

I'm surprised your engine even ran with that thing open. Yeah, just plug it up. You could use duct tape, but that would get gross after a few miles.. the only real solution is to get a rubber stopper for that size tube.. I believe it is a 1/2" tube.
BTW, that tube isn't used for anything on the ABS-equipped cars [IE your SSE]. So don't worry about it'* use .
