My brothers window is down and will not go up... He said it went down fine but now will not go up... All the others work.... the one that is acting up is the drivers side.... Any suggestions??? Location of maybe a braker or something?

may not be the motor... there is a problem i've had a couple of times now with a piece that attaches inside.. that moves along inside a sort of slider mechanism.. i'ts broken a few times and apparently is a common problem. I am not good with all the terminology for these parts as you can see.. but. i've repaired it a couple times and this even think i've made the repair permanent. can you hear the motor when you move the switch to the up position? if so then this is more than likely the problem. dealers usually stock the part and it'* not expensive. but you'll do some cursing changing it the first time

ok rip apart ur door. than when u have access to the window (with whatever spaces u got) just pull up on it and u will hear it click and thats when it alignes it self back on to the lifter. cause they will tend to go off track.

I've had this happen to one of my friends. His window is still down and won't go up.
Is there a way to just get the window up for now? I mean get it back up to the closed
position for now, until he can find the money to repair it.

Like I said if the motor is still working and its just not moving up, do exactly what I wrote up there, take the door panels off, casue all u need to do is yank the window back into position, like I mean like lift the window becuase it will be loose just sitting there casue its off the braket that holds its on the lifter of the motor.

I had the same problem just the other day. The car is in the garage getting all the work it needs to get put back on the road and the window was down while they checked it all out. By the time I went to put the window back up again it wouldn't go up. The glass was sticking up a bit so I pulled up while holding the switch up and it started to move fine again.

I will have to pull the door apart to see what is going on. I did notice however that the drivers window ( the one with the problem) is slower than all the other windows.

Try waiting a few minutes and then trying to put the window up again. See if the window moves at all. If it does, wait another min or two, and move it up again, this time if you have enough window to grip assist it going up.

As for the motor, it will probably need to be replaced. But if you want to take the panel off the door, try putting some grease on the motor, it might help.

Dont know about the Bonneville switches but we had alot of problems with the switches on our LeSabre. They are truely magnificent pieces of junk. Poor contacts. Id try a jumper wire in the switch plug first. Figure out which is hot wire and then jump around to see which is the up connection. It will throw a good spark when you touch the ground. If you have a tester locate that one also to avoid this. Multi meters are not that expensive and easy to learn how to use. Check for hot wire at 12 volt or 0-20 or 50 volt setting. Find ground wire by checking for continuity with ohm setting and touching ground (car chassis)with one wire and into plug with other wire. I think ground is black anyhow. The big wires probably RED are the hot ones. Then all the others are for up and down of all the various windows. Jump hot to a wire and see what happens. If nothing it may be up for a window thats already up so dont just sit there with the power connected move on right away until you figure out which function each wire controls.

You can get used window assemblys out of any 86-91 Delta 88, LeSabre, Bonneville or 85-90 Regency, ParkAvenue, Electra. The junk yards may be full of them but they are crushing them pretty much right away because there is not much demand for older car parts anymore. You'll need a drill to remove the rivits and the whole thing will come right out. It can be put back in with bolts. Just make sure they are short so they dont interfere with movement.

Rear window assemblys are different they only open half way right ? If you need the little oval thingy that goes in the bottom of the window track and the arm of the lift , the ones from a used car on the rear windows will have the least wear - theoretically.
