Wiper parking problem. Poor design anyways..
Ok, I am absolutly sure I am not the only one with the wipers not hiding themselves all the way into the cowl. Theres this stupid trim piece that gets in the way, and the wipers stick out. I have to gently nudge them into the cowl, which is annoying.
Its nothing to do with the mechanisms. Its just that trim obstructs the path, and wipers stay exposed..
Has anyone got a fix for this? maybe switching brands of wipers? Can you get a longer windshield, and remove the trim all together?
One things for sure, its ANNOYING!
Thanks

Switching brands worked for me. Ironically, living in So. California, it rarely rains and I forgot what brand I now have on the Bonne. They may just be the generic arms from CSK (Kragen here). Those yellow-boxed ones didn't work well. What are they?

I think that the wipers not parking may be an internal issue... I may mess with mine a little... i noticed that they hit the outer piece of trim when they are on high speed...
Anyone have any idea if the newer assembly( 92-99 ) will work on the 89-91'*?

Now, i don't suppose you could remove that trim, and replace the windshield with a longer unit? LOL, seems silly to pay that much, just to have the wipers park themselves.
Perhaps i'll try a few brands of blades, or maybe modify the trim, or do something. I just wondered if anyone had any known solutions to the annoying problem?
You know GM'* minivans? The montana, venture, silhoutte? They have what looks like an extended windshield into the cowl, where the wipers just simply glide themselves out of sight. Thats what is a better and neater design. Of course, I hate the way those wipers work, the way they turn, they always look like they will collide, drives me NUTS!
Anyways, thanks!

Longer windshield...er nope.. the windows are specific to the car and no one makes a longer one.
Is it not possible to adjust the wipers down on the spline to park correctly?

I know exactly what you are taking about. Mine does the same thing. I just ignore it or push it down with my hands. I dont think any different type of blade would help because of the lump there on the trim.
