Default Fuel Pump?

I just noticed today at the Wendy'* drive-thru window with my window down that something sounds awry under the hood. It sounds like something turns on for maybe 2-3 seconds, shuts off, then repeats every 10-15 seconds or so. Is this the fuel pump? I can't seem to be able to tell.

insert head under hood when suspecting noise is present, look down at compressor.

Your fuel pump is in the fuel tank. Turn your AC off and see if the noise is still there.

My AC hasn't been on since summer of last year. I've been needing it to be recharged so I just haven't used it. I've started using the heat today, though.

Your compressor runs in Defrost mode for the windshield by default.

So is this not something to worry about? Is it normal?

if you can confirm that it is in fact the AC Compressor engaging, then yes it is normal.
