NO start - when cold or damp- coil?
Hey everyone the beast is having a hard time starting, I will just sit there and it will just crank over and over and over.. no spark, I gave the car a tuneup last year so it shouldent be any of those related (plugs or sparkplugs). What could it be? the coil? does this when its cold or damp with a lot of moisture in the air. Any ideas?
I was just checking the rest of the no start posting,
My car is a 89 Bonerville LE 350 V8 supercharged, just kidding,,, got the 3.8 duh
Ill give a better description of the problem:
I start the car, just turns over over over over over, than the car shakes and rattles and there is a loud backfire sound. I try agian.. turns over and over and over.. repeat the process until the car starts. But let me remind u it does this when its cold or wet or damp out side.
thanks for playing

Hey check your connections of your plug wires to the coils, and the wires to the plugs....Get a lil dielectric grease on there and it should clear that up if it'* a moisture problem...I'm not really sure how cold would tie in with that though...Unless the engine is just too cold to run.

My mother in law'* '90 olds 88 did the same thing last winter, on those really cold days. A new coil/module did it for her.
Not to say that it is necessarily your problem, but it worked for that car.

It is definitely ignition related. Lakeville'* suggestion is great, everyone should put some die electric grease every engine electrical connection you can find. You may want to pull the plugs and wires, and make sure the plugs are gapped correctly [.060" for stock heat range plugs], and that the wires all have similar resistance [Mine were seeing 2,000ohms.. and they worked just fine, so i'd say anything more than that, you might be playing with fire, and replacements might be in order]. After that, sounds like your ICM and Coils are in need of replacement. Usually after 10 years, those go bad [the Magnavox at least, which is the one you probably have].
