If the starter makes any sort of clicking, or sounds as though its cranking, but the engine isn't turning over, sometimes hitting it with a screwdriver will help. However, this is only a temporary solution. When mine went out, it was the solenoid that failed, and if someone sat in the car, cranked it over, and another person it the starter with a screwdriver, it would eventually turn the car over. This worked fine for 2 days until the starter was replaced. This was under my mom'* ownership of the car, NOT mine. Don't judge me!

You can jump the starter. Turn the ignition on, and jump the car over. See what happens, if the car turns over, and starts, then you know it isn't the starter.

Well, for one, it will be easier if you have two people. Turn the ignition on but not to start. Go under the car, wire up the positive terminal from the batter via aligator cliped wire. Go onto the starter, connect the ground to the starter, then once you are ready hook up the ground to the negative terminal on the battery. Once the car starts disconnect the starter immediatly.

ok i talked to a mechanic and he said put a screwdriver between the 2 wires on the starter and turn the key on and it should work.. didnt do nething.. i banged on the starter 2.. now theres 2 things there the one with the wires 2 connected to it.. and then theres a bigger thing next to it.. whats what and if it didnt do nething then the starter is bad right?

so how do i take the starter off? how many bolts are there.. i only see like 1 or 2..

Well, don't eliminate the alarm thing, that may have caused something to fail. What'* happening is the starter isn't getting current. You need to do what I said in my previoust reply. That way you can test the starter, if you can get the car to start that way, you will be on a very long, and strenuous search for the problem.

i took all the alarm components out.. reconnected the thick yellow wire back together where they tapped in for the relay... and if i connect the thick yellow ad the pink wire the car turns on like the dash lights and stuff as if the key was on.. basically hotwiring it.. now like i said i did jump the starter with the screw driver unless thats diff from what ur saying to do.. it sparked when i jumped to 2 wires wit the screw driver but i dont see how doing that would make it start... neway thats what i did so it did nuthing still so i think the starter is done.. what do u think?
