Default Bonneville dosent want to shift from 2nd

Ive got a 1990 Bonneville LE that dosent want to shift from 2nd, it will rev up to redline and not shift. It dosent allways want to shift from 1st either, It will if you drive it gently but once you give it about 3/4-wot it stays in first for a while.

The car was recentaly driving down the highway when drywall fell off a truck and hit the front and broke the grill, bent the rad suport the slightest bit, and dented the hood, and the trans problems started after this. any ideas?

Check the trans fluid. I wonder if you damaged the trans cooler line and the fluid leaked out.

just checked it, still full and red.
ALSO, if it'* in park and i rev it to about 3000-up sometimes it surges forwards for a second, and it scares the crap out of me so i let off quickly.
also, about 2 months ago it was dropping out of gear at low speeds, like in the parking lot, trying to park. in both drive and reverse. <---that was before the accident.

allright well, I took it in. on the way there on the highway it dicided to shift into third finialy, and maby 4th, if it did it was to smoth to notice. Off the highway doing low speeds it shifted also, so we'll have to wait and see what the guy says.
