1990 bonneville crankshaft position sensor problems
Hey everyone im new to this website, my name is Zack...this is my first car and i havnt gotten it started yet my dad is helping me out but we're stuck...the sensor had a mount and a screw....the sensor is really loose and doesnt fit well can anyone tell me how to install or show pics im very close to starting it up i can feel it!

Um... so if I understand you right, you've already got the old sensor off, and the new one on, sorta?
Seems like it'* just two bolts that hold it on, right?
I've never done it myself, but it looks really straightforward.

There should be two bolts that hold the bracket to the engine & another bolt (see image) that tightens the sensor in the bracket.
The sensor alignment tool is very expensive. $400 some dollars IIRC. I used a .020 feeler gauge between the sensor & harmonic balancer.

Your sensor ahould not be loose in the bracket. Only when you loosen the hold down bolt. Maybe yours is missing. Get a bolt and adjust it with a feeler gage and tighten it down.

lol im having a lil trouble with that lol i dont know a lot about it....for now i work too much ... ok well the long bolt is there but it doesnt even touch the sensor

The feeler gauge is used to measure the distance between the two parts and to set the sensor the proper distance from the teeth on the pulley.
If you can figure out how to put Yo in your signature line, you can figure out how to put the year and model of car you are working on. It is a handy quick reference for the site gearheads to distinguish between the different parts and maintenance procedures on different models. Thank you all for helping but i still am worried, like i dont wanna do anything wrong im learning from my dad and brother inlaw but they dont know on this one i mean how badly can i mess this up?
