Looking to use parts from a Bonneville for a '47 Dodge
Not sure if this is a good place to post, but hoped someone could help.
I wanted to grabe the engine from probably an 88 Bonneville SSE. 175HP, I need 4 power windows, I love the seats, etc... but from what I heard front wheel drive.
Question is, the engine, would it mount to any small black V6 tranny from a chev/pontiac? For example, if I grabbed an 88 Camaro with a 700r4 tranny, would it bolt right up?
Also, where on the engine to I search for the version... I was looking at an 88 that had an engine put in 50,000km ago... but, not sure if repalced with another Bonneville SSE engine or a generic crate engine.
Thanks

You're gonna run into alot of problems with that. You'd be better to set the dodge up as a FWD.
These are setup for FWD, so the rwd trans won't just simply mate up. Of course, with enough money and patience, anything is possible.
You'd be better off finding an older Grand National. That'* what our engines were designed from. But they have the benefit of being RWD already. (and turbo )

Given the shape of a '47 Dodge, I think it would be easier to just mount the engine and transaxle from a FWD 3800 in the trunk. They do it all the time in Fieros.
