Power window switches
Hello Guys!
I'm new here. Trying to find my way around a huge forum and hope I've found the right spot.
I have a '63 Studebaker Avanti that'* had an engine transplant by a previous owner. When I got it, it was a very tired 305 with no oil pressure. I found a fresh 350 and had a pro rebuild a TH-350 tranny, and did the swap.
The power windows are making me crazy and at best they were a "rube goldberg" affair, with wimpy motors. I'm going to do a motor transplant there, too, and have ordered two from Summit that should work. They are two-wire motors that require reverse polarity to operate.
I also bought (from Summit) a set of Dorman window switches that are made to fit the same vintage GM car as this part of the forum. I emailed Dorman for a schematic but they said they didn't have one. ???!! HUH? The manufacturer doesn't have a schematic of their own product! duh.
It'* got 5 round pins in the back. One is longer than the other four. Does anyone know how this works? Sorry for the long post here!
Thanks!
Tom

well im not sure why 5 one is going to be ground and one hot. the others would switch from 12v to -12v. is it a oem replacement, maybe if you get a diagram for your car it would tell you something.

old wiring is hard to follow but im guessing white is ground black is power to the switches. yellow is switched power to the motor, and red or green would be the up or down signal to the motors
