valve cover leak question.
both my valve covers are leaking pretty bad but i honestly stay on top of this problem with a constant gallon of castrol 10 w40 in my trunk and i have to use about a quart a week.
i have all the gaskets and gromets but i need the advice and time to do the job depending on how long it will take me...
do i have to remove the fuel lines and stuff.? and what else is needed to be done to change the gaskets..? thanks.
also if i stay on top of keeping it full of oil i should have any problems correct.?

If it keeps leaking badly, you could have a fire.
Remove anything in the way. It'* that simple. The front is easier. No, it doesn't require removal of the fuel rail, but you might want the fuel LINES out of the way for the rear cover.

For the rear cover, you will have to remove the lift bracket as it goes over, slightly, the valve cover...with the bracket being there, you wont have enough clearance to go over the rocker arms.

Draining the oil won't have anything to do with this at all. All the oil has already drained out of your heads.
The job should take just a couple hours for a first-timer that knows the components under the hood.

Scuff up the lip that is on the cylinder heads before you install the new gaskets, so they have a good surface to dig into and seal.
And while you are at it...change out the grommet seals too. Not really necessary, but new ones generally look better

are you sure all the oil loss is from valve cover gaskets? you may have a loose endplate and/or a cracked end plate gasket. See if you can feel oil between the flex plate and block.
