94 SE PARTS FOR A 89 LE?
I GOT A 94 SE AND I WANT TO PUT THE MOTOR TRANNY AND ABS MODULE IN MY OLD 89. IS THAT POSSIBLE? PEP BOYS SAY THAT THE TRANNIES ARE DIFFERENT AND THE MOTOR AND TRANNI MOUNTS ARE TOO. IS THERE A MOS TO ACCOMODATE THEM?

With enough time, effort, money it is possible .....but prolly not worth it cuz there are alot of differences to overcome in those two years.
89:
Engine: LN3 165 HP 220 TQ
Tranny: 4T60
Motor mounts: 4 mounts (two motor, two tranny)
94 SE:
Engine: L27 170 HP 225 TQ (you would need to swap over wiring harness and ECM)
Tranny: 4T60-E
Motor mounts: 3 (1 axis, two tranny)
Prolly also need a custom intake. Theres only one oxygen sensor on your 89, the 94 might have two, im not sure though.
Hopes this gives you an idea of what it will take :?

it would be a HUGE job! Whats wrong with your engine/drivetrain in the 89 right now? it would probally be easier to rebuild the motor/tranny in the 89 then mess around pulling two engines, and pissin around with all the computer stuff and wiring!
Not trying to discourage you or anything, just simply saying it would be difficult to do, however if you decide to do it, the Bonneville Club is your info resourse!

My gosh, that would be a ton of work for 5 hp, and 5 ft-lb. I can see maybe going through the trouble for a series II (205 hp) or series II SC (240 hp). But for some minor updates to the same basic engine + an electronicaly controled transimssion? Personally, I doubt you'd really even notice the difference between the two engines, especially after the weeks (months?) of down-time. Not to discourage you or anything...

THE TRANNY WENT OUT ON THE 89. AND THE ABS IT HAS 165K MILES.
I JUST BOUGHT A 93 SSEI WITH A FRONT SMASH AND A 94 SE WITH A REAR HIT FOR PARTS FOR THE 93 SSEI. SO I FIGURED I WOULD FIND OUT WHAT THE CHANCES WERE ON SWAPING THAT 94 NEWER ENGINE & TRANNY INTO MY 89 AND THEN KEEP MY 93 SSEI AND MY 89 AND SCRAP THE 94 OR SELL THE REST OF THE PARTS HERE OR THE TRADER OR EBAY. ANYWAY THANKS FOR THE INFO.
