Default cat or no cat? iz zero back pressure ok? or.. no?

ok.. since I need a new cat.. still have the original cat and muffler.... is cutting it out fine? will I loose power or what? I have heard that I will loose my get up and go off teh line..( I like to zip around town ) so having no pep would be bad cause I have an issue with the whole egg smell and I put in a bosh o2 from murray'* so I am getting a delco and want to know about the whole cat or no cat.... will it make me slower or not?
hanks guys

First off, there is a federal law that states if your car came with a CAT that you need to ALWAYS have one on it. (do as I say...not as I do LOL)

A lack of back preassure will hurt your low end torque. What would be best would be a high flow cat and a performance muffler. Even a slightly larger diameter pipe wouldn't be bad either. If you go with no CAT you will also probably notice more of a gas smell comming thru the exhaust since a lot less excess gas is getting burned off. Unless you plan on heavily modding your car I would stick with some sort of CAT.

Agreed, taking off the cat is not recommended in my opinion, I installed a high flow cat and performance muffler, and I have no regrets, you get increased power. The trade off is better peformance, a throathy sound, and a is compliant with all laws
