Rear Glass Removal
How do I do it? I cannot get the latch out any other way.. so I am just going to remove that window channel. I have the glass freestanding.. the vent won't budge and I have all the screws/bolts removed. The glass gets stuck on the trim [weather stripping is removed]. My FSM says that I should remove the vent window next.. but I can't get that out. Somebody please help, it is a beautiful day today .

Randy.. I have tried everything. I was sitting there for two hours, trying, and trying.. it just isn't going to come off. I need to remove that channel to get the latch out. I may as well do this, because everything is a learning experience at this point. My car doesn't need to run, so time isn't much anything.. except it is distracting me from the porting.. but that'* no biggie.

I don't see how your car can be any different than mine or the others that have done this repair. I thought about removing the glass at first but said the hell with that after only a few minutes.
You have all three rods removed from the latch and the 5 torx bolts removed, right? The window guide should only need to be moved forward about an inch. Try moving it inward a little too as the latch needs to go around the guide to the outside.

Yes, I have removed all 5 Torx bolts, all three rods removed. I have about 1" of play on the window channel. After all this ******* around, I realized I cannot get the glass off if my life depended on it. I cannot remove the channel if my life depended on it, and I can't manuever the latch around the channel if my life depended on it. I have been doing this so much, I am beginning to bend the lip on my door.. so I must be doing something wrong here. The latch seems to get stuck on some plastic piece [of ****] mounted on the outer door skin.. I tried lowering the latch to avoid that, but there isn't enough clearance at that point. I don't see one loop hole as to getting this damn latch out.

Do you just have the famous Bonneville "not opening from the outside" doorhandles or a problem with the latch itself? I've honestly never seen a problem with the latch itself, but almost all our style have problems with the handles (GM used very chep hardware).
If it wont open at all & you already have the doorpanel off, just trace the rod running from the handle to the latch & youll see where you just need to push down on a "latch" & it will open the door. Am I missing something? Do you just get the "disconnected" feeling when you push the button in the door handle in?

I've got the door panel off, and the doors open. I have had them 'working' for a while.. I just need to get the door panels out of the way, because they are always in my way. That'* the whole reason for me doing this now. The doors worked fine as long as I don't close them locked, or try to open them locked, otherwise they worked like a charm.
